The Sultan of Kedah Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah “warned that the country would be in turmoil and that society would suffer the consequences of tragedy if the social contract is questioned and made into political material.” The Kedah Sultan advised politicians, government officers and the general public to view seriously as well as to take heed concerning the matter.
“The social contract is a major sacrifice on the part of the Malays towards other races. Therefore, it is improper that this contract be questioned or reviewed again or changed because it forms the formation of Malaysia,” declared His Majesty.
Malaysians as a whole should be conscious of these facts before acting irrationally. They should view the context in which the Federal Constitution was established with the creation of Malaysia, where sacrifices were made by the Malays so that all other races could be accommodated as part of the landscape of this country.
This is something that cannot be ignored or be put aside or removed. Doing so will lead to internal strife and destruction of the country. In fact, all those igniting such fires should be detained without hesitation and put behind bars forever. Even China does not tolerate in any way interference to what it perceives to be Han and Chinese dominance.
The younger generation which has no idea of this, needs to be educated concerning it, while society as a whole needs to be reminded of what the consequences are like. The likes of such can be viewed in the never ending turmoil in Fiji and in other parts of the world.
We are not the United States of America or Australia. This country was not formed by settlers, but instead was settled on by others brought in by colonial masters. So let us behave well and go about good governance and management of the country which is the right of every citizen without undoing the political landscape of the Federal Constitution. |
