If you are a woman, then beauty merchandise cannot be separated from you. According to a source, women spend between RM1,000 to RM2,000 a month just to look beautiful and attractive. Unfortunately, some women only consider their outer looks to be important. They are too dependent on make-up and cosmetics. It is said that a woman will emphasize up to 70% on physical looks compared to only 30% for internal beauty care. This man-made beauty sets apart today’s women in comparison to women of the past.
Concerning beauty care, many women compete against each other to be more beautiful. Whenever there is new product in the market, they will try it even though the product is yet to be proven effective. If we touch on the subject of beauty, there is no doubt, women today are beautiful and captivating, but we do not know just how far their beauty lies without make-up.
Beauty care in the old days and today has differed tremendously. In the past, women made it a priority to possess natural beauty by observing a diet of herbs including tree roots, which was believed to be able to beautify their inner selves. However, the direction of modernization today has changed the way women take care of their beauty.
The main topic for women today is ways of slimming one’s body, apart from beautifying the facial area. Modern women look at being slim as being beautiful. So, no matter how expensive any product is, many women today are willing to spend a lot of money on it. Whether it is effective or not, that is secondary.
Whereas women from the past not only did they have to look beautiful, but they also had to have bodies similar to that of a guitar in shape. Secondly, women’s products specifically targeted the husband-wife relationship. And the third craze was women’s cosmetics.
As for working women, there can be no doubt, they will use make-up on a daily basis. So just imagine the amount of money they put aside every month just to look beautiful. The truth is beauty begins from within the body of the individual itself. Emphasis should be given to health care and internal organs, not external matters only.
Nevertheless, we do not deny the significance of cosmetics as a means of beautifying a woman, however that form of beautification never lasts forever. Many women are prepared to do anything to deflate their stomachs, wear tight blouses and use corset because they want to look slim. The truth is, when they get back home, their original body features will prevail and they will look “flabby”.
The definition of beauty is not the same for every individual, but sometimes women are too influenced by western thinking. Today, we can see many Malay, Chinese and also Indian women wanting to be slim because they want to be beautiful in today’s modern world. There are women who are willing to reduce their fat and tighten their chest because they do not want to look overweight. This kind of beauty is hypocritical. Malaysian women are indeed beautiful from facial looks, skin and physical shape.
Truthfully, the best way towards staying beautiful and healthy is by controlling your diet. If the diet is controlled, for sure women will not be faced with obesity or be extremely overweight, what more end up fighting against illnesses that can affect one´s health and appearance. As women, we know and were taught to always look beautiful, but not necessarily to have to wear heavy make-up all the time.
However, today’s women do possess a high level of understanding concerning matters of beauty. Even though they are married and have children, many women still want to be stylish and to have good looks. This proves a change has taken place in the way women take care of their look and their beauty. Not only career women know how to put on the make-up but also teenage girls aged 12 – 13 know how to put on make-up when they leave their homes.
From one aspect, this is a positive development for women, but if excessive, it may not be appropriate with their appearance. It is pointless to look beautiful on the outside without any manners and decency, just like women from the west. What is important is high moral conduct alongside decency, traits related to people of the east. |
