KOTA KINABALU, 3 Feb – As the prime mover of dakwah activities here, Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) needs to strengthen relations with other Islamic organisations as well as to undertake all other kinds of activities.
The President of YADIM, Y. B Senator Major General Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom (B) said Sabah presently has all kinds of Islamic agencies under the state government administration and it needs to be put to good use beneficially by YADIM itself.
YADIM, he also said, apart from developing closer relations with other Islamic organisations here also needs to work closely with them.
“Every agency must have its own focus and strength, and it would be good if we worked intelligently jointly and ensured that there was no activities sponsored by YADIM that were in conflict with them.
“Pertubuhan Islam Seluruh Sabah (USIA) for example, may have programs of its own such as seminars for human development of the Ummah, therefore, we need to focus on other efforts so that the development of Islam here will be wider in scope,” he stated when visiting YADIM here yesterday. He is also the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.
At the same time he said, YADIM Sabah Zone needs to undertake various dakwah activities which presently is confined to conversion.
“Dakwah efforts should not only deal with conversion, but instead needs to strike a balance such as efforts to educate and preach to those who have embraced Islam,” he said.
He also hoped that there will be a discussion between Islamic agencies here on how to coordinate their activities.
