Proposal to Establish Malaysian Ulama Board
PUTRAJAYA, 8 Feb – A proposal for the government to establish cooperation between the ulama and leaders at a more serious level through the establishment of the Malaysian Ulama Board is a short and long term dynamic and strategic agenda.

The proposal was expressed by Syeikh Abdullah Fahim Seat from UKM, Datuk Dr Ismail Ibrahim.

“The establishment of an official body to represent ulama to work closely with the government hopefully to advise and to provide views concerning religious issues involving the country as well as undertake responsibilities and activities agreed upon collectively,” he said.

He said so during a gathering between the Prime Minister, ulama and leaders at the International Putrajaya Convention Centre (PICC) recently.

Also present was the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom, heads of Islamic agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGO) as well as around 1,000 people including muftis, well known national ulama, Islamic members and government officers.
